Meterd

Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Meterd, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using Meterd on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

2. Service Description

Meterd provides a usage metering platform that ingests events, aggregates usage data, enforces quotas, and integrates with billing providers. The service is provided via REST and gRPC APIs, a web dashboard, and webhook notifications.

3. Accounts & Access

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access. Each tenant is limited to one owner. Team members are governed by role-based access control as described in our documentation.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: exceed your plan's rate limits through deliberate circumvention, use the service to store sensitive personal data (PII, PHI, financial account numbers) in event properties, attempt to access data belonging to other tenants, reverse-engineer the service, or resell access to the API without written permission.

5. Plans & Billing

Free plans are subject to hard usage caps. Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Overage charges apply as specified on the pricing page. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.

6. Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of the usage events and data you send to Meterd. We claim no ownership over your data. We process your data solely to provide the service as configured by your meter definitions, quota rules, and webhook subscriptions.

7. Service Availability

We target 99.9% uptime for paid plans. The service includes resilience features (circuit breakers, dead-letter queues, fail-open modes) to minimize the impact of infrastructure issues. We do not guarantee uptime for the Free plan. Scheduled maintenance windows will be communicated at least 48 hours in advance.

8. Limitation of Liability

Meterd is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. In no event shall Meterd be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. Upon termination, your data will be retained for 30 days to allow for export, after which it will be permanently deleted. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to the account owner at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
